Hello Everyone,
First of a huge thankyou for all the feedback and traffic since my last post! Thankyou so much!! I hope you enjoyed reading it!
Now I have to be honest, I've done nothing constructive since my last post on Saturday (except watch the Godfather and eaten lots of food at home with my Girlfriend...which is not so bad!!), so this post is going to be a bit briefer than the post on Saturday (which I am sure you are pleased about!).
Two really exciting things are happening this week which I felt I really needed to blog on, because they both show the immense potential of technology and how it can intereact with the arts sector and show how the two working together can create a huge storm of interest.
The first is an event called "The state Of The Arts: Flash conference" taking place on Thursday. It has been organised by Hannah Nicklin (@hannahnicklin on Twitter) Andy Field (@andytfield) and Laura McDermott (@thederminator), here is a little more info on the event which makes it more interesting than I ever could:
"The Flash Conference is an imaginative new project designed to create brief but electrifying bursts of thinking and conversation amidst the main State of the Arts programme. Harnessing the spontaneity and collective energy of a flash mob, we hope to bring people together to create a flood of brief but provocative responses to the following questions.
How can art of all kinds play a more meaningful role in mass protest and popular resistance?
What makes a good home for art (and for artists), and how can we ensure there are more of them?
In an environment in which success is too often only measured by perpetual growth, how do we ensure that small remains beautiful?
(How) Can art make more people’s lives better?"
I've never been involved in a flashmob, yet I am really really excited by this project and a huge compliment should be given to Hannah, Andy and Laura for setting this event up. I'm almost too excited to carry on with this post, I'm literally bursting with excitment for this conference! Its going to be really interesting to see what the outcomes of this will be and how people respond to the provocations.
For more info on the conference check out the great website:

Just like to also thank Aliki Chappel for posting the link to me! Very much appreciated!
I don't want to spend this post trying to answer the provacations because its more important just to spread the message of the event!!, but one thing has immeditaely come out of it for me. Art and popular ressitance is something which is vitally important for the ecololgy of the sector. Historically for any major dicatorship, the arts are the first sector which is always censored because of the creativity, the risks attached and the unique power art has to get right to the heart of the human experience. The 1950's provided a social revolution in British playwrighting, Dario Fo's plays have caused political and social uproar in Italy and the 'In - Yer - Face' plays of the 1990's on the British stage certainly provoked very strong opinions and very strong oppostion. We are uniquely placed at the moment in 2011 I feel to provide a very strong ressistance to the Colloation's art's cuts, we have something which we as a whole sector can unify together and protest about. It is something which has not just affected a few organisations it has affected everyone and everything across the board. Art at is very core does not have anyone to answer to, we are given criteria to meet and targets to meet, but at the very essence and what makes the arts the most thriving and interesting sector to be involved is that is different to every other public sector. Lets try and resist the tempetation to accept defeat in the wake of arts cuts, however bad they are great art is always possible and uniting together can bring about a new era of fantastic creativity!
Rant over with....... you will be pleased to know!!
The other thing I'm really excited about this week is happening at Live@Lica:

Camerata will be presenting Schoenberg’s 'Verklärte Nacht' with real time digital visuals by video artist Netia Jones. I've never seen anything like this before, So I'm really hyped for this and can't wait to see it!
Other than of that excitment I will actually be doing some of my own work, working on text materials for the idea I outlined in the last post, will keep you all updated with the progress, meeting with my supervisor tomorrow morning to discuss where we are upto!.
Have a lovely week!
Take Care,
Marcus
